Haotian Teng

I'm a Ph.D. student in the Computational Biology Department at CMU, Pittsburgh, US. My primary research interest is in applying machine learning method to quantitively understanding biology system and also develop new machine learning algorithm inspired by biology system.

Biography

I'm interested in machine learning that lies at the intersection of both theory and application. Machine learning methods has been successfully applied to many areas, like speech recognition, image classification, object detection, however, the use of modern machine learning method (including deeplearning) in biology question has not been fully addressed, and has emerged rapidly and showed a competivie performance. My projects(ongoing and past): BoostNano , Chiron, PHANTOM Toolbox.

I graduated from Peking University majored in Physics, and followed by a 2 year Master in University of Queensland, Australia, under the supervision of Lachlan Coin and Geoffrey Goodhill.

I like music, both classical and popular music, I am an exprienced paino player, learned since 6 years old, and also can play a bit of Alto Saxophone. I like sport and e-sport as well.
